Biography

Earlier work was mainly in the dental/oral health field in Myanmar (1976), Cook Islands (1984), Thailand (1987), Zimbabwe (1993) and Cambodia (2001) as a dentist, BDS (1975) Institute of Dental Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar. Co-authored 2 prevalence papers on caries and periodontal conditions in Zimbabwe and also co-authored a WHO guideline: Oral health care in camps for refugees and displaced persons (2000) WHO/NMH/MNC/ORH.00.1.His current work as a research scientist, is in clinical outcomes after obtaining his PhD study on clinical and health promotion outcomes on periodontal health among diabetics at the Faculty of Dentistry/ National University of Singapore (Preventive Dentistry) in 2007. He joined Singapore Eye Research Institute just after acquiring his PhD to work on clinical outcomes in retrospective and prospective ophthalmology clinical outcomes in therapeutics (medications, surgical treatments, etc.). His experience in clinical outcomes research involves the evaluation of risk factors for Singapore corneal transplant study (survival analyses) and clinical trial 5FU study for Glaucoma patients. He also has clinical outcomes research experience (diagnostics, structural equation modelling, etc.) in the dental field. He is developing a Glaucoma Utility Index for Singapore using discrete choice experiments methodology as co- PI for the Glaucoma Utility Index study in Singapore (HREF grant). He is also a candidate PI for a SingHealth Start-up grant on a study for Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma modelling in Singapore.
