Biography

Dr. Sudheer Kumar Singh is currently a Senior Scientist in the department of Microbiology CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow 226031, India. He mainly focus on the basic aspect of our activity pertains to understanding the role of metabolic pathways involved in carbon, nitrogen, energy and co-factor metabolism of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and their role in mycobacterial survival and persistence. To elucidate the role of selected pathways we develop recombinant Mtb strains and study them under in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo growth conditions. Identification of metabolic pathways/targets assisting in Mtb’s persistence will help us evolve strategies to overcome it. The persistence being an important aspect of tubercular survival strategy and a cause of extended chemotherapeutic regimen, any reduction in Mtb’s ability to persist is likely to have good outcome on shortening the treatment duration of chemotherapy.
