Biography

Dr Nongpiur is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI), with a focus on ocular imaging and genetics of eye diseases. Her research on angle closure imaging has resulted in the identification of several novel risk factors for angle closure glaucoma followed by the development of an imaging-based classification algorithm. Her research work in genetic epidemiology of eye diseases includes identification of new glaucoma genes through analysis of quantitative endophenotypes. She has over 35 publications in peer reviewed journals, 2 co-patents, book chapters, and has won several awards, including the ARVO and Asia-ARVO travel grant awards, Best Oral Presentation at the NUS Annual Graduate Scientific Congress, and the SingHealth Publish Award. Dr Nongpiur is currently involved in several multi-disciplinary research programs at SERI, and in collaboration with scientists from the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), Bio Informatics Institute (BII), DukeNUS and several international institutions.

Research Intrest

Ocular imaging, development of risk assessment models for angle closure glaucoma, and understanding the genetic basis of the disease.
