Anca V. Sima is a Principal Investigator and Member of the Romanian Academy. She also works as Executive Director of the Advanced Study Course of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Peer reviewer at national and international journals, Expert elevator of the European FPs, national and international grants, Secretary of the Bucharest Branch of the Romanian Society for Cell Biology, Ph.D. Advisor in Biology, Advisor for graduate and master program and also a Member of the Scientific Council of ICBP “Nicolae Simionescuâ€. She won many prestigious awards such as “Victor Babes†Award of the Romanian Academy, for experimental studies of cellular and molecular events initiating atherosclerosis, 1990 (Anca Sima and Rozalia Mora), “Images in Cellular – Molecular Medicine†Award of the Foundation of Cellular and Molecular Medicine and the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, 2003 (Anca Sima), “Scientific Achievements – Original Article†Award conferred by the Ministry for Education and Research for 8 articles and many more.
Lipid metabolism: cellular and molecular biology of lipoproteins, interaction of lipids with the cells of the arterial wall, transport of lipoproteins through the vascular endothelium, implication in atheroma formation; Cellular biology and biochemistry of blood vessels: heart and cardiac valves in normal and pathological conditions, biochemical and biophysical modifications in atherogenesis and diabetes, diabetes - accelerated atherosclerosis, experimental models of atherosclerosis; Gene polymorphism: implication in atherosclerosis and diabetes.
