Her research focuses primarily on the synthesis, spectroscopy and electrochemistry of red organic dyes suitable for use in the visible-near infrared region. Three different types of dye compound are studied: novel porphyrin analogues, boron- dipyrromethenes and D-p-A type of organic dyes. A key goal of the research is to synthesize dyes suitable for use in practical applications such as sensors for the detection of toxic metals both in vivo and in vitro and as sensitizers for dye-sensitized solar cell.
