Biography

Assoc Prof Ian Yeo is the Academic Vice Chair (Education) of the Ophthalmology Academic Clinical Programme and the Deputy Medical Director (Education) at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He is the Head and Senior Consultant of the Medical Retina Service, and Senior Consultant with the Surgical Retina Service, Vitreoretinal Department. He is involved in both postgraduate as well as undergraduate teaching in the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is an Adjunct Senior Scientist with the Singapore Eye Research Institute. His area of clinical interest is in medical and surgical retina. In the area of education, his focus is on the role of simulators for clinical training. His other area of research includes serosanguineous maculopathy, namely polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy. He is the Principal Investigator in the mesoblast trial using stem cells for patients with wet age-related maculopathy.

Research Intrest

Medical and Surgical Retina, in particular age-related macular degeneration, polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), diabetic retinopathy and central serous retinopathy.
