Biography

A/Prof Yanagi is a Clinician Scientist and is engaged in clinical research and basic science research including the SERI-IMCB Programme in Retinal Angiogenic Diseases. Specializing in retinal disorders, his scientific accomplishments include discovery of molecular targets and the development of a novel drug delivery system to treat retinal and choroidal disorders, including age-related macular degeneration. In addition to directing laboratory research, he has led several important clinical research projects. A/Prof Yanagi is a well-published clinician scientist with more than 100 peer reviewed articles. He has received numerous prestigious awards on national and regional levels including the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology – Nakajima Award in 2011 and the Japanese Ophthalmological Society Councilors Nominated Award in 2014.
