Biography

Dr. Macheers is a former member of Emory Specialty Associates, and is based at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Macheers has an extensive research portfolio, including studies of new valve systems for treating high risk patients with aortic stenosis, the use of wearable cardioverter defibrillators to decrease arrhythmic death for patients with a left-ventricular ejection fraction following coronary artery bypass graft surgery, and evaluation of new stents for patients with unprotected left main coronary artery disease. He received his MD from Tulane, did his general surgery residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, and completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency and fellowship at Emory.
