Biography

For over thirty years, Stephen Cheung, Psy.D., has studied, practiced, and taught family psychology and multicultural psychotherapy in various settings. Before he came to APU in 2005, Cheung had provided administrative, supervisory, and clinical services at the Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Centers (APCTC), a large multicultural community mental health center in Los Angeles, for twelve years. He now focuses his teaching on improving self-awareness, knowledge, and effectiveness in clinical psychology students. Cheung is researching family psychology and multicultural psychotherapy. He is also interested in solution-focused brief therapy, immigrant mental health, integration of faith with psychotherapy, and community mental health service delivery systems.
