Biography

Dr. Yawata is a physician-scientist with a research focus on immunology of the human eye. She started the ocular immunology lab in the Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences Infection and Immunity Program in 2010. She is board-certified in ophthalmology in Japan and received her Ph.D. degree on her studies in uveitis. She investigated human natural killer cell immunology in the Department of Structural Biology in Stanford University before coming to Singapore. Dr. Yawata received a Career Transition Award in 2012 and currently has joint appointments in Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences.
