Biography

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Zin bin Kandar graduated with B. Sc. (Hons) in Housing, Building & Planning from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1984. He obtained B. Arch. (Hons.) in 1988 and Ph.D. (Energy Management and Audit) in 1994 from the University of Liverpool, UK. Currently he taught architecture course at Architecture Department, Faculty of Built Environment Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johore. He was appointed as a Task Manager of the Professional Sector of the Centre for Education and Training in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CETREE) at USM in the year 2000. Dr. Mohd Zin hold Deputy Director post of CETREE from 2003–2005 He was also involved in several technical committees in Energy Efficiency, Energy Management and Energy Audit at national level namely Malaysia Energy Centre (PTM) – current name is Malaysia Green Technology Cooperation (MGTC) and the Energy Commission of Malaysia (ST). In 2013, he was appointed as Head of Design Team of Solar Decathlon China (SDC2013) and later as Head of Design Team of UTM Ecohome Project which is a showcase of Green Building Showcase in UTM Skudai Campus, Johor Malaysia. He is also currently working on several research projects on Energy Management Program, Daylighting on Government Building, Environmental & Sustainable Architecture. Dr Mohd Zin also supervised students from all over the world in Master Degree by research, Master of Architecture Design Mode and PhD students on topics related to sustainable design, green building, daylighting, Building Integrated Photovoltaic Building Design (BIPV). Dr Mohd Zin also interested on Community Service and Humaniterian works. He is now holding a post as Board of Trustee Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) at national level and active as activist at state and local level.
