Dr. Berens obtained his undergraduate degree in zoology from Arizona State University. His doctoral work was completed at University of Arizona in the field of cancer biology. He is Professor in the Brain Tumor Research Unit, Director of the Cancer & Cell Biology Division at TGen, and Deputy Director for TGen Research Resources. The Berens' lab studies the biochemical and genomic drivers of disseminating malignant brain cancer, glioblastoma. Dr. Berens serves as principal investigator on NIH NCI U01CA168397, "Systematic development of novel drugable cancer targets". Dr. Berens has taken a leadership role in the Ivy GBM Consortium.
