He is an affiliated faculty with K-State's Terry C. Johnson Cancer Research Center and Nanotechnology Innovation Center. She has published extensively for developing microfluidic technology and POC diagnosis in high-impact journals including Lab Chip and JACS with the H-index of 13, and granted six patents for technology transfer. Two publications from Lab on a Chip about studying diagnostic exosomes in cancer have been recognized as both KU and K-State innovations, and highlighted as the inside cover story and evaluated as the Most Accessed Article and the Top-scoring Altmetrics article. Her recent publications in the 3D printing-based mobile diagnostic technology have been highlighted by ScienceDaily News and 3D Printing Industry News. Her research work also was recognized as the K-State Innovation by Johnson Cancer Research Center, and received Innovator Award by the Kansas Ingenuity Central Exhibition, and the Kansas State University Academic Excellence Award. Dr. He has been serving for variable review panels, including DOD and Florida Department of Health.
He directs a research group focusing on the development of bioengineering innovations for improving human health conditions and food-related quality of life, including recent efforts for quantitative and integrative study of sensitive bio-entities, exosomes, in disease and personalized health conditions using novel microfluidic and nanotechnology. Her education emphasis includes training engineers to be creative thinkers and collaborative researchers.
