Maire Blankenship began her nursing career in 1987. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner concentration in 2010 from Western Kentucky University, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Western Kentucky University in 2014. Dr. Blankenship’s practice interest prior to teaching were focused in oncology, primary care, and management. She continues to practice part time as an APRN in the community. Dr. Blankenship is a member of the member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives, Advanced Practitioner Society of Hematology and Oncology, and the Oncology Nursing Society. Her research focus includes oncology patients and health promotion.
