Biography

  Dr. Bormann graduated from Western Kentucky University with an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Baccalaureate in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration. She received her PhD in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development from University of Louisville. She is credentialed through the Healthcare Quality Certification Board as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, has Six Sigma training, holds a Graduate Leadership Studies Certificate, and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Her nursing experience includes working as a staff nurse, financial audit coordinator in Quality Resource Management, and utilization review coordinator for a Health Maintenance Organization. Her administrative experience includes positions as Director of Physician and Director of Staff Development and Recruitment. She is currently teaching in the pre-licensure program in the School of Nursing at WKU: Introduction to Professional Nursing and Nursing Leadership, Management and Professional Issues.  She teaches in the Doctor of Nursing (DNP) program: Finance and Economics in Health Care Systems and Quality Improvement in Healthcare. Dr. Bormann has Associate Graduate Faculty Status with the Graduate School. Dr. Bormann is an active member of many professional organizations including American Nurses Association, Kentucky Nurses Association - serving as co-chair of the Governmental Affairs Cabinet, National League for Nursing, Kentucky League for Nursing, American College of Healthcare Executives - serving on the Kentucky Chapter Board, and Sigma Theta Tau International - serving as recording secretary for Kappa Theta Chapter. She is currently Chair of the Hosparus Barren River Board and serves on the Kentucky Hosparus Board.

 Her research interests are staff nurse satisfaction and leadership behaviors and nursing student success and retention
