Biography

Mr Alexander presently working as an Professor at Pathology and Cell Biology with research interest how iron released from red blood cells following transfusion affects infectious risk and biofilm formation. In addition, we study the role of iron deficiency, iron supplementation, and iron metabolism in the biology of malaria, bacterial infections, and co-infections of malaria and bacterial pathogens. Our studies incorporate the use of novel analgesics and refinements in study endpoints to improve animal welfare and study design.
