Biography

José Carlos Huapaya Espinoza holds a Master's degree (2007) and a PhD (2012) by the Post-Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Bahia and has completed postdoctoral internship at the same institution (2014) and at the Dipartamento di Architettura, Università di Bologna (2015) . He was a postdoctoral fellow at PNPD-Capes (2016). He is currently Adjunct Professor and Coordinator of the Nucleus of Theory, History, Design and Planning at the Faculty of Architecture and; Permanent Professor in the Post-Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Bahia. He is a representative of FAUFBA in the Association of Faculties and Schools of Public Architecture of Mercosur (ARQUISUR) and Coordinator of the bilateral research agreement between FAUFBA and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. architecture, urban planning, urban planning and the circulation of modern ideas in Latin America, with emphasis on the Peruvian and Brazilian cases.  

Research Intrest

He is vice-leader of the Research Group "History of the City and Urbanism" (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/4545129920373813) and researcher of the Research Group "Lugar Comum" (http: // dgp. cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/1204641593855809) of the Federal University of Bahia and; of the Research Group "Culture, Architecture and City in Latin America" of the University of São Paulo (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/4178083803601092). He is the Coordinator of the Nucleus Docomomo_BA (http://www.docomomobahia.org/?page_id=26) and active member of DOCOMOMO Perú (http://docomomoperu.com). He was honored by FAUA-UNI in 2004 for excellence in the work of research for completion of the course (2004) and for the National University of Engineering (2005) for obtaining the 3rd place in the evaluation of all undergraduate work at that university. He has several articles in national and international events and in books on the constitution of the modern movement in Latin America.
