Biography

Prof. Ignatius Ugwudike Obi was born at Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, U.S.A., as follows: B.Sc. (Agric. Science); M.Sc. [Agronomy – Genetics and Biochemistry with emphasis on corn (Zea mays). Protein quality], and Ph.D (Plant PathologyGenetics and Biochemistry). He was a visiting Fellow at Cornell University, Ithaca in New York, U.S.A. 1982/83, where he was exposed to Residual Analysis for Detection of Outliers in Experiments. He was, also, a visiting lecturer at Katholieke Universiteit, Belgium, where he taught Arid and Tropical Farming Systems in 1988. He, also, participated in a two-week Tutorial in Statgraphics at Katholieke Universiteit, Belgium in 1989. He is married with two children – one boy and one girl. Prof. Obi served the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as follows: Lecturer II (1975-1978), Lecturer I (1978-1981), Senior Lecturer (1981-1985), Reader (Associate Professor) 1985-1989, Professor (1989 to date).
