After completing medical school under a full academic scholarship at the prestigious Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Dr. Miotto trained in general surgery and plastic surgery at the Hospital de Clínicas and Santa Casa in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She then worked in aesthetic surgery private practice in Florianopolis, Brazil, from 2007-2010. In 2012 she completed an aesthetic and oculoplastic fellowship at Paces Plastic Surgery, now the Emory Aesthetic Center, under the mentorship of Clinton McCord, MD, and Foad Nahai, MD, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship and additional surgery training at Emory University. In 2015, she received a Master of Education degree with an emphasis on health profession education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Throughout her postgraduate years at Emory, Dr. Miotto designed and executed new simulation skills workshops for general surgery and plastic surgery residents and also designed and taught fundamentals in surgery skills courses to Emory medical students. As a faculty member, she will be a key educator for the Carlos and Davis Center for Surgical Anatomy and Technique (CSAT), particularly as an instructor for CSAT's annual surgical anatomy and operative techniques course. She will also engage in aesthetic surgery educational activities for the plastic surgery fellows. Dr. Miotto's clinical interests include surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, fat grafting, and aesthetic breast surgery, and her research activities involve simulation training in aesthetic surgery and plastic surgery.
