My name is Mohd Fadhil bin Md Din. Today is the 7th year my appointment as a lecturer at this faculty and many thing has been going on since. I am graduated from UTM in 1999, also holding Master of Engineering in 2001. I was started my carrier after graduated my bachelor degree in 1999 as a Tutor. I was completed my study at Master level under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azmi Aris (UTM, Malaysia) and Prof. Dr. Morgens Henze (Denmark Technical University, DTU). The study was vibrantly focussed on the potential pre-investigation of photocatalytic and photo-ozonation design. The research work was initially prepared at lab-scale and never been tested for actual wastewater effluent, especially from the textile wastewater industry. A prototype development on photo-ozonation has been carried out using combination ozone and photo light (at medium energy excitement) for the special treatment on the colour and COD removals. After consistently working for one-and the half year, the study was successfully documented in various types of journal and international publications. Then, I was further my study under double-programme, between UTM (Malaysia) and TUDelft (The Netherlands). I was engaged with Dutch-Malaysian collaborations under the PhD scheme, which usually for the mutual international networking under the supervision of Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang (UTM, Malaysia) and Prof. Ir. M.C.M. van Loosdrecht (TU Delft, The Netherlands). The programme was proposed as the invitation to the developing country for the promotion of young researcher in the global research network. Therefore, the study was conducted in internship program under special award by the European international committee, known as WOTRO. During my PhD training, I had trained with various biotechnological environments, engineering technical and environmental design criteria, especially for my future career. The study was completed in 2006/07 and continuously develops ever since. Together with Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Zaini Ujang and other team members, we proposed one type of the selected treatment and recovery process, named: – Biodegradable Plastic Made from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) – under TechnoFund project (TF0206B033) in Kahang, Kluang. Most of the research currently, focuses on the fabrication and recovery design from waste to wealth environments.
