Dr. David Clarkson’s career along the Gulf Coast began in 1974, when he accepted a faculty position at the University of South Alabama’s department of internal medicine and hematology. Over the years, he has distinguished himself in private practice as one of the leading medical oncologists in the region. His primary focus has been in the areas of hematology and lymphomas. As Senior Staff Physician, Dr. Clarkson oversees the vast array of clinical medical oncology services offered at the Institute. He also has a keen interest in the development and design of electronic medical records software, and has been instrumental in developing a program that navigates large, complex patient databases in order to manage medical problems more easily. Several of Dr. Clarkson’s innovations are copyrighted.
