He has 26 years of experience in freshwater ecology, fish biology and river basin management. He has coordinated more than 60 projects at national and Sino-US. Recent projects include dealing with the protection and rehabilitation of large river fishes such as those in the Yangtze and the Mississippi River.
His special fields of interest are assessment of human impacts on fishery, mitigation measures and river restoration. His particular focus is on the hydropower-environment nexus, including environmental flow, connectivity disruption, fish pass technologies and natural reserve.
