Biography

Lecturer in School of Nursing and Human Sciences, DCU. Programme co-ordinator for the Certificate in Homeless Prevention and Intervention. Working experience of a range of mental and general health care contexts in Ireland and Britain with particular interest in educational research inquiry/development. Winner of the DCU President’s Teaching and Learning Award for Distinctive Approaches in Teaching (2013). Director of Teaching and Learning, School of Nursing and Human Sciences, DCU (2010 - 2013). Post-graduate Convenor SNHS 2008 -2011. Pathway leader for BSc in Mental Health Nursing DCU 2002-2006. External examiner for undergraduate programmes in Mental Health Nursing, Queens University Belfast. Reviewer for Journal of Advanced Nursing and The Journal of Psychiatric and Mental health Nursing. Interested in arts-based and narrative approaches in education, research and healthcare practice.

Research Intrest

Narrative and arts-based approaches in healthcare interventions, research and education. Power and discourse in healthcare/educational contexts. Homelessness as a social issue and personal experience.
