Dr. Barbie’s clinical interests include locally advanced breast cancer, triple negative breast cancer and genetic mutations that lead to breast cancer. Her research focuses on developing targeted therapies for patients with triple negative breast cancers, and she has patented a microfluidic device that allows human breast cancer specimens to be cultivated and drug response to be immediately tested for efficacy. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program.
