Biography

 Dr. Anastassios I. Kanellopoulos is a Surgeon - Ophthalmologist specializing in Microsurgery of Cataract, Corneal Transplant, Glaucoma, and Refractive Surgery with LASER. His curriculum vitae include the medical degree from the University of Illinois and his specialization in ophthalmology at the University of New York. After completing the specialty of Ophthalmology, Kanellopoulos completed his specialization in Corneal and Refractive Surgery at Cornell University in New York and then at the Boston Harvard Medical School. He then completed his specialization in glaucoma interventions at Harvard University. Dr. Kanellopoulos is private, based on his center in Athens, specializing in interventions and diagnostic tests with LASER. He has served as Clinical Consultant on Corneal Surgery, Refractive Surgery and Cataract Surgery at many international centers in Europe and the Middle East. Since 1999, the Doctor has been Deputy and since 2010 a Regular Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of New York (NYU). His writing activities include over sixty original writings and equivalent reviews of medical journals, several book chapters and multiple annual presentations at conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a guest speaker at ophthalmology conferences worldwide. He is internationally regarded as a pioneer in LASER applications, both in Refractive Surgery and in other ophthalmologic interventions. Since 1999 she is the first surgeon to have a cataract surgery with LASER through a cut of less than two millimeters! He has devised the "Athens Protocol" a technique of collagen interfacing with laser normalization for the keratoconus. Today she teaches LASIK tutors and colleagues in Europe and the United States.
