Biography

 He grew up and completed his school years in Ioannina. He excelled in all grades of high school and high school. In 1990 he was admitted to the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, where he graduated in 1996 with a degree "Very Good". He then takes over as a Rural Doctor at the Melissopetra Regional Medical Clinic in Konitsa, and later on he will continue as a Rural Doctor at the Health Centers of Metsovo and Kanalelaki Preveza.   In 1999 he served his military service as a Doctor at the Military Hospital of Samos and then at the 404 General Military Hospital of Larissa, where he received a brief training at the Department of Ophthalmology at the hospital. In 2002 he started his specialization in Ophthalmology at the University of Ontology, Ioannina, under Professor K. Psylla. Here he had the opportunity to receive high-level educational experience by participating in all the activities of the clinic. He receives extensive surgical training and actively participates in the clinical protocols of the clinic, remaining in the most modern limits of science. In 2005, at the end of his specialization, he moved to London for further education at the famous Moorfields Eye Hospital, mainly in the field of Cornea and Pediatric Ophthalmology. Moorfields Eye Hospital has been recognized as one of the best (purely ophthalmic) hospitals in the world, defining the most modern therapeutic methods. In 2007 he goes to Chennai, India, in the Ophthalmological Hospital of the famous Professor A. Agarwal, where he receives special surgical training in the treatment of Cataract and Laser Corneal Surgery. In 2008 he completed his postgraduate studies, lasting 5 years, in a different but equally interesting subject, that of Health Management. With Grade "Very Good" he receives a Master (MSc) in Health Unit Management. In the same year (2008) he goes to Paris to take part in the pan-European examinations for the Diploma of the European Council of Ophthalmology. Achieves, and gets the title Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO). With the completion of his educational duties in 2008, the Ioannina Ocular Model Institute is established and started to operate. A state-of-the-art medical cabinet, which aims at more effective diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmological diseases, for the benefit of the patient and his vision. Throughout his medical career, ophthalmologist Alexios Nikas MD, MSc, FEBO, remains scientifically active, having published scientific papers and works in Greek and international scientific journals and participating and attending most international conferences in Greece and abroad.
