Biography

A/Prof Jod S Mehta joined the faculty as a Clinician Scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) in 2008. Currently he is Co-Head of Cornea and External Disease and Senior Consultant in the Refractive Service at SNEC and Head of Tissue Engineering and Stem Cell group in SERI. He has academic affiliations with DUKE-NUS GMS and he is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with NUS. A/Prof Mehta received his general ophthalmic training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He also completed a Corneal External disease and Refractive fellowship in Moorfields and at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He has won awards at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and recently the Nakajima Award at Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology. His corneal interests lie in corneal transplantation – penetrating keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty, femtosecond laser technology, corneal imaging, corneal infections, corneal refractive surgery, keratoprosthesis surgery, ocular drug delivery systems and corneal genetics. A/Prof Mehta has author of over 170 peer reviewed publications, 9 book chapters and has 6 patents, two of which have been licensed.

Corneal transplantation: penetrating keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty, femtosecond laser technology, corneal imaging, corneal infections, corneal refractive surgery, cataract surgery, keratoprosthesis surgery and corneal genetics.
