Dr. Torréns received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as a medical student. He completed his Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. After a highly decorated and distinguished career at Walter Reed as Director of the Diabetes Education Program, Subject Matter Expert on Diabetes to the Endocrinology Consultant for the Surgeon General of the US Army, and Chief of Medicine of the 85th Combat General Hospital, he joined the faculty at New Jersey Medical School. During his stay there, he established the Latino Diabetes Education Center, was co-investigator in the Women’s Health Initiative, the Study of Women’s Health Across the nation, and did research at Rockefeller University on fat cell biology and leptin regulation. After a successful academic career, he joined Hunterdon Healthcare. He has been recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America since 2007 - 2010 and New Jersey Top Doctor in 2011. Dr. Torréns is fluent in Spanish.
