Dr. David J. Smith has been an ophthalmic surgeon for over 35 years in the Atlantic City region.  Dr. Smith attended college at LaSalle College in Philadelphia and medical school at Wisconsin University College of Medicine.  He did an internship at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.  Dr. Smith then served two years in the US Air Force as a Flight Surgeon in Southeast Asia.  Dr. Smith then completed an Ophthalmology residence at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Smith takes great pride in treating multiple generations of families for over 35 years.  His interests include advanced cataract surgery and medical treatment of glaucoma and diabetes.  He enjoys actively studying the latest surgical techniques, and feels that he provided the greatest level of eye care to his patients.  He is an Attending Surgeon at Wills Eye Hospital in the Cataract and Primary Eyecare service. Dr. Smith is a lifelong area resident and enjoys exercise and yoga.  He is a Margate Beach Patrol Alumni and won the South Jersey Lifeguard Championship in the double rows in 1963.
