Biography

Dr. Ahmad Zahiruddin Yahya graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom with an honours degree in Accountancy, and followed by a Master of Accountancy from University of Dundee, Scotland. He obtained his PhD in the field of Entrepreneurship from Sultan Idris Education University in Malaysia. Professionally, he is a member of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) as well as the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM). As an academician, he has a long illustrious career at the premier and oldest university in Malaysia -University of Malaya, spanning for the accumulated sum of 17 years, of which he has been awarded the Excellent Certificate Award for a couple of times, and had served at various administrative posts including the Acting Director of the University of Malaya Centre for Innovation and Commercialization (UMCIC) and the Head of Department of Management Accounting and Taxation, Faculty of Business & Accountancy . At national level, he has significantly contributed to the higher education quality assurance by serving as an Expert Assessor representing Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) since 1999, and has assessed hundreds of accounting and business related programmes in Malaysia ranging from certificate level to masters. He is also a member of the distinguished Malaysian Accounting Higher Education Curriculum Committee setup by the Ministry of Higher Education to steer the direction of accounting education in Malaysia in 2013. At the peak of his public service, he was appointed to lead a statutory body as the Director General of Cooperative College of Malaysia with the mission of transformation. As for now, he is back at University of Malaya to continue sharing his knowledge and experience after a stint outside, but still serve as Board of Director of MKM Global Holdings Sdn Bhd (a GLC under Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives & Consumerism Malaysia).
