SCM Group decided to enter the retail trade market in 2006 by establishing Ukrainskiy Retail. The company pursues the goal of creating one of the biggest retail chains in Ukraine. As of November 2016, the Brusnychka chain consisted of 101 stores in Donetsk, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Poltava oblasts operating in a "corner shop" format with a sales area of 300-400sqm with about 6,000 sales items. Ukrainskyi Retail is headquartered in Dnipro and employs about 2500 people. The company runs its own education centre for induction training of all store staff.
The company's assets also include three distribution centres of around 10,000sqm with the commodity turnover accounting for 30% of the chain's turnover and a production facility supplying the stores with meat products, fresh pastry and cooked food. Ukrainskiy Retail's fleet consists of 46 freight vehicles. A comfortable layout of the sales floor, a wisely selected range of products, the optimal number of employees, quality service and an individual and prompt response to the preferences of buyers in every area are the main competitive advantages of Brusnytchka's stores. The company is restyling its shops according to a new format – Brusnychka freshmarkets. The first three freshmarkets were launched in September 2011. The freshmarkets offer a wide selection of the so-called Fresh range: over 34% of the total products choice are meat, dairy, bakery products as well as fresh vegetables and fruit. Ukrainskiy Retail is planning to continue development of its retail chain in the East and the central part of Ukraine, to improve its financial performance, introduce modern IT technologies, optimize the product range, pricing and marketing policies.
