Biography

John de Jong is owner and founder of Newton Animal Hospital. A 1985 graduate of Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, he has taken on many leadership roles in organized veterinary medicine having served as president of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the New England Veterinary Medical Association and the American Association of Housecall Veterinarians. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the American Veterinary Medical Association. His primary interest is surgery and he also owns and operates the Boston Mobile Veterinary Clinic. He is a weekly columnist for the Boston Herald and is a monthly talk radio guest on the syndicated Howie Carr Show. Boston Magazine and the Improper Bostonian have both recognized him previously as Boston's Best Veterinarian. His personal interests are politics, fishing, golf and rugby and he enjoys family time with his wife and two sons.
