Biography

Ludwig Cancer Research is a global community of leading scientists pursuing innovative ways to prevent and control cancer. From basic research to clinical trials, in individual laboratories or as part of international teams, our researchers are tackling the hardest questions, spotting the connections and the possibilities. At Ludwig, we test our work against the one measure that matters — improving human health. Research Intrest

My expertise lies in the exploration of cellular signal transduction mechanisms. After my undergraduate studies in Stockholm I spent 3 years at Tokyo University as a guest scientist working on cell signaling by pro-inflammatory ligands with Takao Shimizu. I then joined the EMBL PhD program in Heidelberg, Germany, identifying two novel players (Ringo/Speedy and Xkid) mediating cell cycle progression in the group of Angel Nebreda. At the Max-Planck Institute in Munich, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Rudiger Klein and Axel Ullrich to start exploring the in vivo importance of negative feedback regulation of EGF receptor signaling for epithelial biology by generating mice lacking the feedback inhibitor Mig6. In recent years, first at University College London and now at the Ludwig Institute in Uppsala, we have broadened our exploration of the spatiotemporal regulation the EGFR family of receptors and its importance for epithelial homeostasis, regulation of epithelial stem cells and development of cancer.
