Anne’s research has centered on three areas; i) In vitro, in vivo and in situ investigation of the chondroprotective effect of candidate drugs for the treatment of inflammatory joint diseases, ii) understanding joint pathology, enabling the development of disease-specific markers, and iii) identification and validation of biomarkers for inflammatory diseases such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, and recently also in inflammatory bowel disease and systemic sclerosis. Anne’s research has resulted in the development of the panel of biomarkers that are predictive of progression and treatment response in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
