Research interests are focused on recirculation technology, mitigation of environmental effects from fish farming and the linkage between nutrition, recirculation and environment. Within recirculation general aspects and biofiter kinetics as well as technology development are covered. Efforts on reducing discharge includes effects of different cleaning devices, mass balances and different types of end-of-pipe treatments including sludge handling and sludge hydrolysis, denitrification and filtration. In recirculation systems by far the major input is from fish waste originating from the fish feed. Therefore, defining system input through feed and digestibility is a very important area for system design, system operation and nutrient discharge. The linkage between these different research areas are a major focus of my present work.  Â
