Neil graduated from Napier University in 1981 with a BSc in Medical Microbiology. He then completed a PhD in “Studies on a 40kDa protein antigen of IS901/902+ Mycobacterium avium” from the University of Edinburgh in 1997. Neil manages Moredun's Proteomics Unit and has a broad multi-disciplinary research background, primarily in bacteriology and virology but also in parasitology. Historically, interests have been wide-ranging within the field of microbiology but have focused on molecular biological and protein functional studies of a wide range of pathogens of veterinary and medical importance.
