Biography

Dr. Himangsu Kausik Bora is currently a Scientist in the Laboratory Animals Facility deparrtment CSIR Central Drug Research Institute, India. He focused on all biomedical research programmes leading to discovery and development of novel drugs, diagnostics and medical devices intended for human use, essentially require a suitable animal test-system which can mimic the disease conditions similar to human or animal beings. Wide variety of animal species including rodents, rabbits, dogs and cats, farm animals, monkeys and others maintained under captive laboratory conditions have been frequently exploited for the scientific experiments with a view to extrapolate the observed animal data in human situations. However, in current state, the research community is looking for newer and improved transgenic or knockout animal models as tools for more precise studies on biomedical research. Besides the health and wellbeing of animal test-system in use becomes an important criterion in order to obtain consistent and reproducible experimental findings, it is also equally important to ensure the availability of proper housing and husbandry conditions and appropriate physical and environmental pre-requisites is vital for prolific production and comfortable life of the experimental animals.

Research Intrest
