Dr. Alan Cheung is interested in the fundamental mechanisms of gene transcription and how those mechanisms are used to control mRNA expression in eukaryotes, by combining a variety of structural, biochemical, biophysical and genetic methods to dissect and study RNA polymerase II and the very large macromolecular complexes that mediate transcriptional activation. Our goal is to understand how these complexes act as focal points for transcriptional regulation.
