After graduating with a Batchelor of Arts degree in Accountancy, Colin Burnett subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989 and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Colin was appointed Group Finance Director of The Moredun Group in June 2000 where he is responsible for the group finance function and is a member of the Corporate Management Group and Chairman’s Executive Committee. Following his appointment, he restructured the debt facilities and finance function to give the group the platform on which to develop its internationally renowned scientific work. Colin is a Past President of East and Midlothian Chamber of Commerce, a former Council Member of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and he is a Non Executive Director, and Chairman of the Finance Committee of Business partnership Limited (formerly the Midlothian Enterprise Trust). He is a member of the Charities Technical Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having previously served on its Lothian, Borders and Central Area Committee. Colin has many years experience serving on the boards of, or acting as an advisor to, charities.
